On 23 May, we presented the first Hayao Miyazaki’s Dreams by Candlelight concert at the National Library of Georgia — and the evening was sold out. In the heart of Tbilisi, the hall filled with candlelight, live music and the quiet excitement of an audience ready to step into Miyazaki’s universe.
Performed by Mystery Ensemble, the programme brought together music by Joe Hisaishi, whose melodies have become inseparable from the films of Hayao Miyazaki. Themes from My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Kiki’s Delivery Service and other beloved stories sounded in a warm, intimate atmosphere created by the flickering of candles.
This sold-out premiere at the National Library of Georgia became a special moment. Hayao Miyazaki’s Dreams by Candlelight opened in this venue with warmth, tenderness and a full hall — a beautiful beginning for a programme where every melody feels like a small door into another world.
